The Curriculum
Most programs give you a list of topics and let you study in any order. I Passed Math is built around a teacher-tested sequence — every stage is designed to build on the last. You're not just practicing math; you're following the most efficient path to a passing score.
You can start wherever makes sense for you. That said, the sequence is carefully ordered — later stages assume the skills from earlier ones. If you're unsure where to begin, Stage 1 is short and worth reviewing even if you think you know it. Many students find gaps they didn't expect.
Each skill in the sequence comes with a full lesson and a built-in practice question bank — instruction and practice together, in one place. Every question includes a hint and a full explanation — not just the answer, but the thinking behind it. The goal is that you understand what you're doing, not just memorize steps.
Some skills are deemphasized because experience shows they are actually quite difficult to master — especially if you don't know your math facts by heart. Spending a lot of time on those topics early can slow you down when there are higher-value skills that are more achievable and more likely to appear on the test. Master Stages 1–8 first, then come back to the deemphasized skills to sharpen your score.
It depends on your starting point and how much time you can dedicate each week. Students who work through the sequence consistently — even a few hours a week — typically see meaningful progress within a month. The goal isn't to rush; it's to build the right skills in the right order so nothing is wasted.
The GED Test
The GED Ready is an official practice test available at GED.com. It's scored the same way as the real test and gives you a "likely to pass," "too close to call," or "not likely to pass" result. The first checkpoint in the sequence is a "see where you are" moment — not a gate. Take it, review your score report, and use it to identify which skills to focus on. The second checkpoint, later in the sequence, is when you're aiming for a passing score before scheduling your real in-person test.
